KLWP Requires Device Reboot To Work Properly After Changes Made in Editor

I have been using KLWP for some time now and I have a wallpaper with many Komponents each of which has several flows running on a regular basis triggered by data format changes (rather than cron - which did not seem to work as well).

I have been having problems after making changes to my wallpapers in the editor. After making/saving ANY change in my wallpaper in the editor, I find that the entire operation of my wallpaper goes whacky - forcing me to reboot my phone in order to clear out the log jam. It has been this way for a while now - certainly over 6 months. But there has been no change in this over time and perhaps it is getting even worse.

Since wallpaper development, at least for me, consists of a series of MANY iterations/changes over time, having to reboot the phone every single time just to see the results of my most recent changes has become intolerable for me.

Has others encountered this? Any suggestions on how to avoid this? Thanks

Elsewhere, someone suggested changing to another wallpaper prior to editing and then changing back once done. I just tried that and it did NOT make a difference. It was a good idea though… FYI

Same problem here.

I stayed a long time in version 3.77 before understanding that rebooting solves the problem.

Thanks for confirming this. Just to be clear, I do not think that rebooting solves any problem. It merely removes the visible symptoms. When I edit again, the issue returns immediately - requiring yet another reboot.

I am not sure if this is related to this other issue. It would be helpful to know if you experience that as well?

Thanks

Hi @whitedavidp ,

I think the issue was caused by too many Komponents and/or too complex the preset, or there are some Flows simultaneously running with extensive amount of process.

TIPS

  • Try to keep the preset as light as possible
  • Avoid having too many elements in the root container.
  • Keep using bitmap images minimum & lite enough because bitmaps cost more resources

I hope this would help.

Thanks. I agree that somehow I must be over-taxing KLWP. I will point out that I use very few images/icons, almost no animations, no fancy fonts, etc. The vast majority of what I have in my single preset are textual Komponents for each of my several IoT control panels.

I may have to transition more and more of this to Tasker’s Widget V2 - which is pretty awesome.

When I edit again, the issue returns immediately - requiring yet another reboot.

Yes you’re right and I confirm it’s a complexe preset, with 10 Flows ; but no problem with v3.77

Thanks. While I am sure I have been using since before 3.77, my app backup mechanism has nothing earlier than 3.81b530515.

So I hope @frank might see this data point from you and maybe find out what happened right after 3.77 that might be responsible for this.
