Widget not updating on Pixel 9 Pro XL

I’ve made a simple widget with just a clock and battery life display. Lately I’ve noticed that both will just stop updating for random intervals. Sometimes it won’t update for over an hour, sometimes it stops updating then starts again after only a few minutes. I disabled all the battery saver and battery optimization stuff that I could find on the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the problem still persists.

One thing I’ve noticed is that when I go to KWGT settings I still see the red boxed error “Battery Optimization: Kustom is battery optimized, this might prevent the app to work properly. click to fix” so I “click” on it, and it wants to take me to App Battery Usage, so I go there, and into “Kustom Widget” and the only option I have there is to Allow Background Usage, which I’ve already done.

So what is this Battery Optimization error wanting me to do? I can’t find any other battery optimization settings to appease this error, which might actually fix the issue? I can force it to update by restarting my phone, but having to restart my phone every time it “freezes” is kind of a PITA.

I’ve paid for pro and quite like the program/app. I think I could have a lot of fun with this, but as it stands I’m quite disappointed that whatever I make won’t even function correctly if the data doesn’t update.

The path of where the optimization setting is varies depending on the make and model and the Android version that it’s on so KWGT can’t always bring you to the actual page. For Samsung, you can go to Apps >> Kustom Widget >> Battery - set this to Unrestricted.

I’m not on a Samsung phone…

I understand. Your device is on the title of your post. What I’m trying to say is that this can be different depending on the device.
