I’m completely new to this and have almost no background in coding. I am looking for something very basic, so before I start breaking my head, I thought I might ask here if a guide already or such a widget already exists.
I’m trying to make a clock widget like in the Galaxy s9 where you have your main (local) clock in big letters and right under it, in a smaller font, you have times from world clocks that were added in in the clock app (picture for reference).
I tried just using two widgets, but it takes a lot of space and is annoying to work with since it’s not one complete widget.
I hope this isn’t too noob of a question, I just got overwhelmed with all of the information and most of the apps I saw tended to lean towards the artistic kind rather than a simple, straight forward widget.
Welcome. I’m sure there are any number of available widgets but if you’re interested in making your own I’ve made you a little simple time zone widget that you can download, adjust and improve to your preferences.
Once you’ve downloaded it and then imported it into KWGT you’ll be able to change anything you wish.
1/ The Local time (main large text) will change by GPS to whatever time zone you are currently in.
2/ The ‘1st Time Zone’ has been set in KWGTs Settings > Location > First Alternate Location to Seattle, WA. Then in the Layer Settings of 1st Time Zone Group the Location has been set to First Alternate Location and it picks up the correct time automatically. It also displays the correct location in the text field using the formula. This means that if you change the First Alternate Location in settings both fields will update automatically to the new location.
3/ The ‘2nd Time Zone’ has been done slightly differently. Instead of entertaining an alternate location the Layer Settings just had the TZone set to Sydney, Australia. Since it doesn’t pick up the location automatically that has just been typed into the text field. These fields have also had their colour adjusted simply by changing the Paint value for the Item.
It probably sounds complicated but it isn’t really if you have the widget open in KWGT in front of you.
If you’re interested in learning more I highly recommend Brandon Craft’s CraftMath website which has excellent links to his YouTube video tutorials; I also recommend Tored’s Guide to Koding which is really great for people that prefer having a written page in front of them while they work.
