Before the update, you could perfectly grab raw images from the internet and load them onto KWGT using the proper image section, but now the images won’t load at all.

Have you searched this forum for similar issue? I believe there are some posts with the similar issue.
BTW, one solution is changing how your preset retrieve the image, from previously direct access to the image URL (for the image path) to using a Flow to retrieve the image (with a trigger either periodically using cron tab or manually using touch action).
