Hard lagging into crash

I’m running Moto Razr 2025 (base model, not Ultra/Plus), and my KLWP editor has developed a serious lag issue that started right around a security update on August 1st. The editor runs fine for the first 1–2 minutes after opening, then progressively slows down until it becomes unresponsive — this happens with every preset regardless of size or complexity, including presets that worked fine before. Backgrounding and foregrounding the app doesn’t reset it; the only fix is fully force-closing KLWP, after which the same 1–2 minute good window happens again before it degrades. Critically, the actual live wallpaper on my home screen runs perfectly smooth with no lag at all — the problem is isolated entirely to the editor/live-preview, not the wallpaper rendering engine itself. I checked Developer Options > Running Services and saw KLWP using around 500MB of RAM (Nova Launcher was around 200MB+ for comparison), though I haven’t yet confirmed how high that climbs right before it locks up. I’ve already ruled out a number of things: force-stopping, clearing cache, and a full uninstall/reinstall of KLWP made no difference; storage isn’t the issue since I recently cleared about 90GB of space; I tried turning off RAM Boost/Extended Storage entirely and the lag persisted; Adaptive Battery has been on since I got the phone and isn’t a new variable; and I checked Battery Saver and app restriction settings with nothing standing out. My phone model doesn’t have an “Adaptive Performance” or “Force GPU rendering” toggle to test either. Given the consistent timing, the fact that it’s preset-independent, and that only a full process kill resolves it, this really looks like a memory leak specific to the editor’s live-preview render loop, possibly triggered or exposed by something in the August 1st Android security patch on this device. KLWP itself is fully up to date.

Hi @Jinx ,

Have you tried to directly report the issue by email to the developer?

I hope this would help.
