Hello. I am having an issue with KLWP while using Octopi Launcher on my Samsung S25. I am not able to see any elements (time, date, etc) on my home screen. Yet, in KLWP, everything looks fine. I changed the parallel rendering on (and off) to no avail. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.
To help narrow this down: when you are on your home screen, do you see a completely black screen, or do you see the default system wallpaper instead of your KLWP preset?
Knowing this will help determine if the launcher is failing to load the wallpaper service or if KLWP is just having trouble rendering the graphics.
I see the wallpapers I chose for KLWP. If I go to the wallpapers settings, it is set to KLWP.
Please check these settings:
- Screen Count: In the KLWP editor, look at the top‑right icon (the screen monitor). Make sure the number of screens there matches the number of pages you have in Octopi Launcher.
- Wallpaper Scrolling: Go to Octopi Launcher settings and ensure that Wallpaper Scrolling is enabled.
All settings were already set as you mentioned.
As a note, a new update just came out for Octopi Launcher. KLWP was functioning properly when I first updated, but after I shut off the screen nd set my phone down for awhile, the elements disappeared again
It may be that the issue comes from Samsung’s aggressive Battery Optimization.
When the screen is off, the phone can freeze KLWP to save power. Please try the following possible fixes and let me know if anything changes:
- Battery Mode: Go to Settings – Apps – KLWP – Battery and set it to Unrestricted. Do the same for Octopi Launcher.
- Never Sleeping Apps: Go to Settings – Battery – Background usage limits and add KLWP and Octopi to Never sleeping apps.
- Lock in Recents: Open your Recent Apps, tap the KLWP icon (and Octopi if possible), and choose Lock this app.
I’ve completed the steps mentioned, but I havent been able to get the elements to come back. These steps seem to prevent the setup from sleeping and then having the elements disappear. Unfortunately, I cant get them to appear anymore.
Have you used other third-party launchers (like Nova, Niagra, or Smart Launcher) on this Samsung device before? Did KLWP work correctly with them, or did you have the same disappearing issue?
I used Nova previously, without any issues. I switched to Octopi Launcher afterwards. I didn’t have issues previously, but the latest versions seem to be problematic. Others, though, have not reported having similar issues. I have the latest release from KLWP also.
It seems that the issue lies with the latest Octopi Launcher update specifically on Samsung devices.
Unfortunately, I don’t own a Samsung device myself to run direct tests. It’s very difficult to troubleshoot every possible system setting without having the physical device in front of me. At this point, it’s best to wait for a fix from the Octopi developer or switch back to a more stable launcher.
