Calls unread count broken

Recently my Kustom phone widget stopped working. First it changed from a 1x1 to a 2x1 widget by itself. Then the formulas within show an error of “uc: invalid token limit”. As best I can tell, there have been no recent updates to the device, phone app or KWGT app anytime near when the problem started.

Example of one formula:
$if(uc(calls)=0,30,0)$

…which has worked fine for years and is the same format as other formulas in a few other widgets that still work correctly. Any recommendation to fix this issue?

Could it be a permissions issue?

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, the allowed permissions seem to be correct.

Did you try revoking and reapplying them?
Sometimes that helps…

Just tried your formula and mine just reads 30, so it seems to work…

I tried the formula, and it also showed 30 as the result.

@pmzahorosky :
Have you checked the related settings in your KWGT editor? Maybe the issue is related to that settings. Check the Notification settings in the KWGT editor.

A result of 30 would be correct if there are no missed calls.

Thanks for the suggestion. As stated in the OP, all other Kustom widgets are still working as expected which I don’t think would be true if it were an incorrect setting in the Kustom app itself.

Now my Gmail widget is not showing unread counts. The widget doesn’t show an error in the formula like the calls widget but is not showing any unread email count on the desktop. It shows in the editor, though. Are new Android security updates wreaking havoc on KWGT?

Hi there,

It happens on KLWP, too. Let’s wait for @frank to address this issue.

I am tempted to remove this feature entirely to be honest, it requires very high privileges and its not used by most of users, i am checking hte issue anywa

@frank :

Hi Frank,

To be honest, I use the Unread Counter and System Notification functions a lot and I rely on them to work properly in my KLWP & KWGT presets.

I have complaints about them not working, from my clients who have bought my presets.

Here is one of my KLWP presets that use Unread Counter and System Notification functions.

This is the view after I restart the KLWP app, in order to show the counters. I think the issue happened in the recent updates of KLWP & KWGT apps.

I personally need them a lot, they give me a notification on how many messages do I got before accessing them.

I regularly use them to monitor the number of received messages in:

  • Gmail
  • WhatsApp Messenger
  • LinkedIn
  • Telegram Messenger
  • Text Message (SMS)
  • Missed Calls

I hope you could understand how important they are, at least for me and my clients.

Thank you.

I second this. I use this feature quite a bit.
