It seems that the app was once set up to accommodate for multiple types of touch such as a double tap or even a swipe, are these still possible? Is it something we could see at some point?
This was removed long time ago due to compatibility issues with launchers, right now Kustom relies on the launcher to send touch events, next version might add a new gesture "swipe end" but everything else is tricky. Double tap could be added as well but unfortunately right now the only launcher supporting it is LL so to avoid confusion i am currently not supporting it.
